Congratulations sir, on your election to the Presidency of the United States of America. It has truly been inspirational for me to follow your campaign.
As a legal immigrant to this country, my one regret this season is that after nearly 10 yrs in this country, I was unable to participate in this process by actually voting. In fact, I am yet to be the beneficiary of a green card. I am caught up in the quagmire that is our legal immigration system. Yet, I understand fully that this does not represent the spirit of America, so I keep hoping.
I have been waiting patiently for many years and following all the rules set forth. Though there are many pressing issues to be dealt with, I hope that you would make the issue of addressing legal immigration reform and transparency, one of your administration's early priorities. As you are aware this issue is also critically linked to economic competitiveness and global economic leadership. I feel certain that your bi-partisan leadership can accomplish sensible reform quickly.

E filed both myself and spouse application 157 days before expiry of EAD. Received Receipt numbers immediately, since i e-filed. i did send in the documentary evidence supporting the case also.
Also received FP request, which i had to re-schedule twice(once for visit abroad, second on missing app. due to late arrival of notice). Finally got FP completed on third try.
However, i received email stating that an RFE has been send for both our applications. Still awaiting for the paper document.
Does this mean the application was accepted? Or Should i e-file once again instead of waiting on the outcome of this application as i am already a month late to expiration of EAD?

I'm in my 9th year of H1B which is going to expire in about six months. My employer is suggesting to extend H1B and not use or extend EAD. Based on your experience and knowledge please post your advise. If a post like this already exists, please point me to that. I could not find one easily. Thanks a lot.

What is the purpose of this poll? Why start from 2005 (and not from 2001) ?
trueguy has a poll started for period from 2001 to 2004 and I have started this for 2005-2008.
The limitation is that we can have maximum of 10 entries in a polling!!!

Where you filed I-485 is not a criteria to select where the EAD application should be submitted (renewal or first time). Just check the state and supporting service center and file it there. I filed my I-485 in Nebraska alongwith first time EAD and AP. But now (as written in I-765 instructions), I need to file it in the service center that processes my state (Georgia). Hope it helps.

Increasing H1B quota may not be the good choice, US Economy needs stability in immigration, immigrants should be issue with GreenCards for pending AOS and thereby people can invest to buy house and stay in this country.

I spoke to my lawyer. She said she was re-sending the app in today with a cover letter explaining the wrongful rejections. She said that if they still reject it, she will go through the liaison and try to get them to accept it. Is this standard procedure?
Secondly, on a different note, I am not sure who did it or why, someone gave me a red dot.

Hello All,
Just curious and needed your opinion. My wife has a valid H4 status until 2010 (no visa but petition approved). She used her EAD card for all of 5 days about a year ago and then has not worked since then. I am confused if I need to apply for renewal of her EAD to maintain her legal status in the country considering having used EAD for 5 days might have triggered her out of H4 status. Any thoughts on this? Do i need to renew her EAD to maintain her legal status in the country even with a valid H4 petition until 2010? We also have 485 petition filed and pending over 180 days. I am wondering if it is required for a person with 485 pending for over 180 days to always maintain a valid EAD card even though they are not employeed. Thank you all in advance.
No it is not required to maintain valid EAD if you are in AOS.

No it is not required to maintain valid EAD if you are in AOS.

I believe consular processing can be used only if the dates are current. It might take a long time for 2003 April EB3 India to be current. Since Green Card is for future employment, is there anyway to continue the Green Card process while in India ??

The interview didn't last more than 10 minutes. She asked for copies of current employment letter and a copy of future employment offer letter. She kept my original (first) I-94 and attached it to the file she already had.
We were asked standard questions and additional proof of our relationship. We submitted copies of apartment lease, tax returns for 2006 (filed jointly).
'Have a nice day' is what she said to signal that the interview was over. On our way out I asked her if we are not supposed to get a decision today. She said she had to review a couple of things and that there's 'nothing to worry about' and we should receive written decision within 4 weeks. She did mention about 'a couple of security checks being pending'. I asked 'like name check and stuff', she said yes. I didn't say anything about that new memo regarding Name Check Pending for more than 180 days and just walked out quietly, because she didnt seem like she was going to take any more questions :)
Now I dont know what to do next? Any idea whats gonna happen? My PD, RD and ND all are current at this time.

You need to bump this thread zillion times, before you get like 100 contributions. People are busy filing for 485 now and later on busy waiting for ead's and later on busy getting their infopass appointments and the list goes on... forever.

I have used a similar copy myself when meeting the staff of Congressman Michael Fitzpatric, with great results. However we were told that we were waiting for the lobby firms to give us their input. My guess was, if they are going to provide some really good insight, then we might as well wait a little and add that b4 meeting the Congressmen/Senators.
If you guys are decided on the presentation, then i can go ahead and book the appointment.
