First, I would like to congratulate each and every member of IV for having an effect on USCIS and successfully able to submit the 485 in July. The things that mattered were the unity and direction / advise from the core team. Its a victory by any standard.

I would also ask all the members who were able to file 485 to read some of the forums (Yahoo namecheck tracker, immigration.com etc), and prepare yourself of what is coming. Right now, if you are unlucky, you get stuck, but later if you are lucky, you will get through.
We will win at the end, because we have not done anything wrong. Just keep unity.

I'm going to ask my employer/lawyer for the receipt as I have to go out of country in the second week of October. But you never know, these guys don't care about your life.. They might still not give it to you... (Yeah, everyone knows I-485 is OUR application and they do not have a legal right to hold our receipt notices, but we are at their mercy for atleast 180 days)

I-485 was filed with Nebraska but transfered to texas service center.

I changed my address using online AR11 on friday May 1st. I checked my case portfolio next day and saw a soft LUD on my I 485 application. Same with my wife. I think it is always better to get the address change done in the system because later it can be a big headache to solve. I will update forum if I hear anything from CIS.

I can hardly find any paystub beyond 6 months, in my case. I hope and pray that I dont get an RFE like that. Do people really keep all the paystubs they ever received from employers? that is an outrage.

Now, that is an interesting question. I think the answer is: ambition.
I am convinced that those who don't participate in the action items simply lack ambition. If you were to ask them what their life would be like after getting the GC, I am fairly certain they would say "pretty much the same". And that is exactly the problem - they cannot imagine the doors it will open or the opportunities that will become available. For them the green card is a mere travel/work document, with some semblance of permanency. They want to "be" in America, but they don't know how to make the best by "living" in it. They will buy a house, or get a job that pays a few dollars more, but it will pretty much end there. The most ambitious of the lot will probably start a desi consulting company with other like minded losers.
You on the other hand, possibly have plans. You probably want to go back to school to learn something new. Maybe you have an idea to start a new business, or a non profit or attempt a different profession! You want to make the best of the possibilities and maximize your potential, and do things you couldn't do without the privilege to live, work and think freely.
But don't lose heart. There are many, if not all, who are with you in this initiative.

If you open a company on EAD, you are eligible for any positions that pay by W2 right?
If you have an EAD, you can take up any job which pays by W2... Opening a company has nothing to do with it.
If you are opening a company and you do Corp to Corp with any other vendor or Consultancy, then they will pay your corporation...and you get paid. From your side that is business income and you can deduct your expenses.

I have recently switched the job using AC21. I have to move my 401K from my old previous company but here is the issue: in my new company I will not be eligible for the 401 till I complete 6 months with the new company.
If thinking of moving it to IRA account, please let me know what is the procedure involved?
I will really appreciate if some can suggest me what are my other options.

You have multiple options.
1> Just keep the money with your old company. This is possible if the balance is above 5K.
You can shift as soon as you set up a new 401K plan with your new company. Check with your current HR if they allow this. In my company, they do allow this.
2> Shift the money to a new/exsisting IRA.
Either case, first open the account and ask your current 401K custodian to write a cheque to new 401K/IRA custodian. If they write a cheque directly to you, they may withhold tax.
If you don't deposit within specific time period then you would incur tax and 10% penalty.

we are entering into the last quarter, where according to the new rules, everything that has not been allocated will be opened up for retrogressed categories for that FY.
Which actually explained why they pushed EB2 so far back, so that they can bring it forward in the last quarter, i.e. the July bulletin.
On the whole issue of EB retrogression, This current batch of EB based green cards have waited the longest number of years in the history of green cards.
So, sooner or later, someone in the goverment will have to answer why is that they let so many people apply green cards when they did not have a numbers solution ready.
Why were we even allowed to file for Green Cards when they could only issue a certain number based on the Country of Birth, each year.
This is like sell a product to someone, send him an invoice, and he comes back and says, sorry, we have a country wise quota, so even if we bought these goods from you, we wont pay you cos the quota for this year is up.
No, literally, export quotas work that way, they put a quota on sourcing, not on payments.
Why not do the same on Green Cards?
So, this whole mess, what is the right amount of time (in years), that it starts turning into a 'rights' issue from a 'flawed process' issue.
Currently, unless we have some representative in the government, who sees this flaw as a real issue, it is only us non-immigrants who can push this harder, and generate that representative, who instead of sliding this issue along with some big Financial bill, lobbies hard to get this issue resolved, as a separate entity..
ON the hope that OP has generated, personally, Am I hopeful, that I will get my Green Card in July.

Got to the forums menu and select I-485 reciept tracker and you will find that you are not the only one sailing. There are bunch of July 2nd filers who have not got their reciepts yet to start with. I am one among them . Filed on July 2nd no activity yet, no checks cashed .

i attended for visa stamping on dec 1st at Hyderabad consulate so i got 221g yellow form but he retained passport with him. he told to submit all the documents that are mentioned on the yellow form. did any body got same thing. usually how many days they will take for processing after submiting the documents

I recently went for my 10 year H-1B stamping in hyderabad in august end. I got the 221g slip and as in your case, the officer retained my passport. They requested info about my company which I duly provided in a weeks time. I got my visa approved and passport in my hands in early november so it took about 70 days. Obviously every case is different so I cannot say how long your case would be pending but my brother had to wait about 60 days for his visa stamping.
My company was ok with me staying back for the stamping. Though I have AP/EAD (July 2007 filer) I used the opportunity to spend time with my family. I came back last week with no issues at the POE. Good luck with your case

One of my friend filed on July 2nd through her lawyer but she has not received any Receipt Notice (her checks have also not been cashed yet).
Her lawyer has the Fedex delivery confirmation that the application was delivered on July 2nd.
Anyone in similar circumstances? Would appreciate any help on this matter.
